Hands Off My Food Takes Flight!

It’s official!  Hands Off My Food! was launched on Saturday March 4th at an event featuring David Barton.

It was an amazing evening!  I spoke about Hands Off My Food! for nearly four minutes before introducing David Barton.   I delivered the primary message of the book:

Under our current food system, we are losing our health and our freedom.  But, each of us has the power to restore the integrity of the food we eat.  By taking back our consent, we can protect our long-term health and reclaim the freedoms we have lost.

To my delight, the message resonated with the audience!  My book table was swamped with people wanting to share stories about food-related illnesses or talk about how I reversed my autoimmune disease.  Every person I talked with was looking for answers.  And, every person resonated with the idea that we don’t need government or the food industry to fix the problem.

“We the people” are the solution.

At the end of the night, I sold 28 books!  And, someone who bought my book emailed the next morning to tell me that Hands Off My Food! is “brilliant!”  She booked me for a speaking engagement next month!

Not only did my first book grow wings last night, I had the privilege of meeting David Barton and Stephen McDowell, president of the Providence Foundation.

It was one of those nights you never forget.  Have you ever replayed a situation over and over in your mind? It’s as though you’re replaying a movie so that you don’t forget any of the details.  For the past day, I’ve replayed the night over and over so many times I have lost count.  I hope I never forget a single moment, or a single emotion that I felt that night.

Prior to the book launch, I was so nervous that I couldn’t eat or sleep.  I wasn’t sure if Hands Off My Food! would be joyfully accepted or boldly rejected.  So, I did what I do best.  I tried to control the situation with my Type A personality, which only heightened my nervous energy.  Then, just a few hours before the start of the event, through divine intervention, my girlfriend sent a text saying: “Pray, then let it go.  Don’t try and manipulate or force the outcome.  Just trust God to open the right doors at the right time.  Amen.”   In that moment, I decided to do one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life.

After spending 5 years creating, nurturing, and protecting my book, I handed it to God.  I made the decision to trust that He will deliver it into the hands of those individuals who are meant to have it.

I don’t know what God has in store for Hands Off My Food! or what He will call me to do next.  And, that’s okay.  But, I do know that I’m grateful for that night, I’m grateful to have a second chance at life, and I’m grateful for my relationship with God.  If this book helps even one person avoid the health challenges that my family has faced, it will all have been worth it.
